Dr. Azar Andami Scholarship
Empowering the Next Generation of Women in Medicine
Azar Andami (1926–1984) was a pioneering Iranian physician and bacteriologist whose work transformed public health. Best known for developing Iran’s first effective cholera vaccine, her leadership strengthened epidemic response and saved countless lives. At a time when women were rarely welcomed into scientific fields, she broke barriers with brilliance, courage, and service. Her global impact is honored by a crater on Venus bearing her name.
To honor her legacy, HerBridge, an initiative of HerAscend.org, is establishing the Dr. Azar Andami Scholarship to support exceptional undergraduate women in the United States pursuing careers in medicine and STEM.
HerBridge is a grassroots 501(c)(3) nonprofit with no salaries and no administrative deductions—100% of every donation goes directly to student support.
